“You’ve Got Questions, We’ve Got Answers”
If I cannot attend the race, is there a process for a refund or deferral or transfer?
We can defer to another year, or transfer your bib to another person. You will need to change the registration and notify us before the race day of the change so that the information can be updated in the registration system.
I am interested in fundraising for your Moving ME Forward charity in lieu of registration, is that an option?
Yes, during registration, when participants opt to become a fundraiser, they are asked whether they want their registration fee refunded when they hit the minimum fundraising goal set for their event- $150 for half marathon and $75 for 5K. If this option is selected, the registration fee will be refunded when the threshold is reached
Can I register on race day?
Yes, but we would strongly recommend that you do NOT wait until race day to register. Note that race day registrations (and changes) will close one hour before the first race (5k or ½ marathon) start time.
Are early starts permitted?
There will be one early start at 7:30 a.m., restricted only to ½ marathon walkers who expect to need additional time to finish the course. The restrictions on the early start are due in part to limited course support in the early morning, prior to the regular starting time. Anyone who starts early will not be eligible for awards. Note that the course and race will be closed at noon!
Are shower and/or locker rooms facilities available?
There are shower facilities available. Arrangements will be made to store race related items at the race start. Neither Lost Valley Ski nor Lake Auburn Race Committee is liable for losses or theft incurred by participants.
When will I get my bib number?
We DO NOT send out bib numbers in advance of race day. Bib pick-up will be scheduled for the evening prior to race day. Race day morning bib pick up will end ½ hr prior to first race start. Final race instructions will be emailed to registered participants prior to race day. Please check your SPAM/JUNK filters!
Can a friend or family member pick up my race packet?
Yes, but you’ll need to provide a signed note giving someone permission to pick up your packet.
Is the course certified by USATF?
Yes, the 5k and half marathon courses have not been certified.
Where can I park?
On race day, parking is allowed at Lost Valley Ski at designated locations.
Are there port-a-potties on the course?
Yes, there will be at the start/finish and on the course.
Can I switch from the ½ marathon to the 5K or to the relay, or vice versa?
Yes. Registered runners may switch events at any time before the race online at RunSignUp, up until the last Friday prior to race day. After that, any changes will need to be addressed on race morning at the registration table. There is no refund of your choose to downgrade to a lower cost race and any increase in cost will need to be paid at the time of the change.
How does the chip timing system work?
There is a disposable chip system in which the timing tag is placed on the back of the bib. Please do not fold your bib, because doing so can break the electrical circuit inside the tag, possibly resulting in your tag not being recognized when you cross the start or finish line.
What will the weather be like on race day?
Will transportation be provided to and from the relay transition point?
Yes, there will be a bus provided for the runners leaving just after the ½ marathon race starts and prior to the 5k race start (approximately 8:40). The bus will stay at the transition point and not heading back to the start line until all the ½ first half runners have finished.
Are walkers allowed in the race?
Yes, walkers are allowed in both the half marathon and 5k. All walkers, even those who start early, will receive an official finishing time unless they violate the restrictions listed above for early starters. However, there is no separate awards category for walkers. For the 5K, Runner will leave first and then the walkers
Are wheelchairs allowed?
Yes, wheelchairs are allowed in both the half marathon and the marathon. We also welcome individuals with other physical limitations. We ask that you contact Bob Brainerd (firstname.lastname@example.org) so that we may accommodate your needs in an appropriate fashion.
Are pets or baby strollers allowed?
For safety and insurance reasons, pets are not allowed, but baby strollers are.
Where are the water stops and will sports drinks be available?
There will be five water stations and two of them will also have Gatorade. The stations are situated approximately every 2- 3 miles along the entire course. Each of the aid stations will be in contact with medical personnel so that runners may receive medical assistance if needed.
Will there be an awards ceremony and finishing medals?
Finishing medals will be awarded for all ½ marathon finishers. The awards ceremony for each race will began as soon as we have accurately confirmed the results, in the finish-line area, under one of the tents. Runners who have won an award but are not able to stay for the awards ceremony can ask to receive their award before the ceremony. Please check in at the podium at the finish line.
Are massages available?
Post massages will be available at the start/finish line for race participants.
Where do I go for postrace food and beverages?
Postrace food and beverages will be available at the finish line for runners only. We ask that you not get food for family and friends so that runners who may finish after you also have the opportunity to replenish themselves.
What if I need medical attention?
Medical personnel will be at the finish line and at two locations on the course, and will be roaming the course on bicycles. In addition, each fluid replacement station is in contact with the medical team so that runners can receive medical attention if necessary.
Can I leave clothing at the starting line?
There will be a baggage tent near the starting line where you can leave clothing. Articles of clothing that are left unclaimed after the race will be donated to a local homeless shelter. Neither the college or Lake Auburn Race Committee is liable for losses or theft incurred by participants.
