Dear Runners, Volunteers and Sponsors,
It is with deep regret that we are announcing that due to some last minute changes in State guidelines, we are forced to cancel our 9th annual LAHM and 5k event scheduled for this weekend, September 12th and 13th. It was the goal of our committee to be able to bring this “live” event to our community in these unprecedented times. We had acquired all the correct permits, received permission and support from the city and first responders, meeting with our local officials to present a safe event following all the CDC guidelines. We had overcome many obstacles, but in the end, the latest restrictions that the governor put out specifically focusing on road racing events were too insurmountable for us to be able to provide you with a safe event. On September 1, 2020 the new restrictions caused us to lose the support from our city officials, which resulted in not allowing us any road closures, police- fire safety support, or use of city materials. We have been asked by the Fire Deputy Chief and the Auburn Police Department to respect their decision. In the end, the purpose of everything we do is for the community, and to show any disrespect for those who have supported us for the last 9 years would not be in line with our core values.
We have said from the start of this pandemic, that in the event that circumstances beyond our control impacted our ability to provide you with a safe event, that we would do the right thing in regards to your race registration fees. We will be sending out additional information by the end of this week to all registered participants with instructions on how to request a refund, donate or defer your registration to our 10th annual event in 2021.
It was great to watch as some of you took advantage of our Virtual 10 Weeks to Wellness activities this summer! We would also encourage you to run or walk the 5k or 13.1 virtually this weekend that you have been training for and would love to see a picture of you accomplishing your goal in the spirit of still “Moving Forward”!
For those of you that are interested in running the virtual version of our event, we will still be having packet pick up at Lost Valley from 4:00-6:30pm on Saturday September 12th where you can pick up your race shirt, bib, face mask and medal. We will still be holding our kids Zumba warm up, 1k fun run, and hill climb starting at 4:30 as previously planned! We hope you to see you in person on Saturday but if you have a friend that can pick up your packet for you, that is an option as well (unfortunately we are not able to mail out these items at this time). Stay tuned for instructions to be sent by Saturday on how to manage your registration. In the meantime, if you have questions other than what is already outlined in this notice, please email email@example.com.
